Description
The LSR2001-DOUBLE sensor uses two laser scanners to detect vehicles. Compared to other technologies, this sensor is able to detect vehicles with high accuracy and resolution. LSR2001-DOUBLE can accurately measure vehicle profiles and is, therefore, the ideal tool for applications requiring precise vehicle classification. It can distinguish more than 20 classes of vehicles, including:
- Motorcycles;
- Cars;
- Vans;
- Trucks;
- Lorries;
- Articulated lorries;
- Buses.
The LSR2001-DOUBLE consists of a master and a slave sensor. The master, which contains the CPU, gets the data from the slave and combines it with its own data. The master sensor makes vertical scans and is mainly charged with counting, classification, and triggering. The slave is rotated to detect the vehicle at a certain distance from the master and is used, in combination with the master, to measure speed and length. The orientation of the slave detector depends on the installation height of the detector.
As a laser scanner, the detector can measure the vehicle’s profile and presence. For this reason, it is very precise in classifying and counting vehicles even in heavy traffic conditions, stop&go and in queue presence.
LSR 2001-DOUBLE provides the following data:
- Counting;
- Speed;
- Length;
- Height;
- Class;
- Traffic status.
INSTALLATION
The LSR2001-DOUBLE can be installed on the side of the road or at a minimum height of 5 meters to detect one lane and 8-10 meters to detect two lanes.
It can also be installed in a gantry, one per lane, for high accuracy on a multilane road.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
The detector has been designed, both mechanically and in terms of firmware, to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions. The firmware has some filters for rain and snow.
The scanner optics are designed differently than those of other producers and consist of two separate areas for sending and receiving the laser beam, making them resistant to dust, water and other elements.
The detector has a CPU that analyzes the signals the scanner receives to extract all the vehicle parameters. Communication with the sensor can be done through an Ethernet or RS485 line.
The sensor can be configured through easy-to-use web pages. On these pages, it is possible to set the background, check the scans, set the lanes and view the log of detected transits.
